Sustainable Development Goals
A blueprint to achieve a better and more sustainable future for all
As a social enterprise, Bow Valley Green Energy Cooperative has identified the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as an effective way to track our social, economic and environmental impacts. The SDGs were adopted by all United Nations Member States in 2015 as a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity by 2030. BVGEC is focusing our efforts on furthering the following four goals:
-
Goal 7. Ensure access to affordable, reliable and sustainable energy for all.
Target 7.1 By 2030 ensure universal access to affordable, reliable and modern energy services.
Target 7.2 By 2030 increase substantially the share of renewable energy in the global energy mix.
-
Goal 8: Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth for all.
Target 8.4
Improve global resource efficiency in consumption and production and endeavour to decouple economic growth from environmental degradation.
-
Goal 12: Ensure sustainable consumption and production patterns.
Target 12.8
By 2030, ensure that people everywhere have the relevant information and awareness for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature.
-
Goal 13: Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts.
Target 13.3
Improve education, awareness-raising, and human and institutional capacity on climate change mitigation, adaptation and impact reduction.
